Opportunities to Join CODI

Current Opportunities

We are currently seeking dedicated individuals for the following roles. Most positions are volunteer-based, some may be structured as either volunteer or contract depending on candidate experience and CODI’s needs. Volunteers must be 18 or older.

Director of Programs (Volunteer Role)

The Director of Programs leads CODI’s research, education, and advocacy initiatives, ensuring they are mission-aligned, impactful, and responsive to the needs of cultural and linguistic communities worldwide. This role oversees program design, implementation, and evaluation, and cultivates partnerships that strengthen CODI’s work. In this role, the Director of Programs will work closely with CODI Executive Director, CODI’s PR firm, and CODI Program Managers to ensure that CODI’s programs advance digital inclusion and deliver measurable outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee CODI’s research, advocacy, and education programs.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with nonprofits, academic institutions, and community leaders.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and report impact to the Executive Director and Board.

  • Time Commitment: 8 hours per week
  • Time Zone: Flexible; Must be able to attend virtual calls with CODI team members (UTC/GTM -7) and PR firm (UTC/GTM -4)

Director of Operations (Volunteer Role)

The Director of Operations ensures CODI runs efficiently and effectively by overseeing internal systems, compliance, and day-to-day administration. This role oversees identification and implementation of tools and technology, and develops and implements policies and processes to support CODI's activities. The Director of Operations works closely with CODI Executive Director to ensure CODI operates efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with nonprofit best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee CODI’s compliance and operational policies.
  • Maintain CODI’s technology infrastructure and collaboration tools.
  • Define, track, and report on CODI's success metrics.
  • Support the Executive Director with organizational planning and governance.
  • Ensure operational practices align with nonprofit best practices.

Director of Philanthropy (Volunteer Role)

The Director of Philanthropy drives CODI’s fundraising strategy and builds relationships with foundations, corporations, and individual donors. This role leads grant development, sponsorship opportunities, and donor engagement efforts to secure the resources needed for CODI’s long-term sustainability and impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement CODI’s fundraising strategy.
  • Identify and pursue grant and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Cultivate and steward donor relationships.
  • Work with CODI Executive Director to diversify and grow CODI’s funding base.

Director of Finance (Volunteer Role)

The Director of Finance manages CODI’s financial health and ensures transparency, accountability, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This role oversees budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and fiscal policies, providing strategic financial guidance to CODI’s leadership and Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage CODI’s annual budget.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Board.
  • Oversee audits, filings, and compliance requirements.
  • Advise leadership on financial planning and risk management.

Legal Counsel (Volunteer Role)

The Legal Counsel advises CODI on governance, compliance, contracts, and intellectual property matters. This role ensures CODI’s activities and partnerships meet legal and ethical standards and protect the organization’s mission and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal review of contracts, MOUs, and agreements.
  • Advise on nonprofit governance and compliance.
  • Ensure CODI’s intellectual property and data practices are protected.
  • Support ethical and legal decision-making across programs and operations.

Events Coordinator (Volunteer Role)

The Events Coordinator works with CODI’s team and PR firm to plan and deliver CODI’s events, both virtual and in-person. This role helps CODI raise awareness, engage members, and build partnerships through impactful events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and deliver CODI events such as workshops, panels, and webinars.
  • Manage event logistics, communications, and registrations.
  • Coordinate with speakers, volunteers, and partners.
  • Promote events through CODI’s communication channels.
  • Gather feedback and track outcomes to improve future events.

Grants & Development Coordinator (Volunteer Role)

The Grants & Development Coordinator supports CODI’s fundraising efforts, with a focus on grant research, proposal development, and donor stewardship. This role helps secure resources to sustain CODI’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and governments.
  • Support preparation of grant proposals and reports.
  • Assist with donor communications and stewardship activities.
  • Maintain development records and calendars.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy to advance CODI’s fundraising strategy.

Universal Acceptance Program Lead (Volunteer Role)

The Universal Acceptance (UA) Program Lead advances CODI’s work in promoting Universal Acceptance, ensuring that all domain names and email addresses can be used equally online. This role coordinates UA-related projects, research, and advocacy within CODI’s broader mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead CODI’s UA initiatives, including research, outreach, and advocacy.
  • Coordinate UA-related working groups and volunteer efforts.
  • Develop resources, guides, or reports to advance UA adoption.
  • Engage with partners, governments, and industry stakeholders on UA issues.
  • Represent CODI in UA-related forums, events, and collaborations.
